MONZO X GREGGS ATMmmm

Software build and delivery mechanism (ATM) fabrication

Monzo ATM with Greggs sausage roll

To promote the partnership between the disruptive challenger bank and the country's favourite baker, we built a mock cash machine to give out delicious sausage rolls and a bunch of Gregg's-for-life prizes.

It's heartwarming to see how much joy you can bring simply by dispensing a pastry to people through a fake wall... Hearing people giggling every few seconds is a nice balm for the soul given the current social and economic climate.

The skills needed for the project

UX and design

of the customer interface in combination with the admin control system.

Software build

for the entire coordinated system: main user interface and multiple “back-office” interfaces. Perhaps not bank grade secure code but the system had to handle thousands of hangry individuals jonesing for pastry.

Fabrication

of the ATM unit including a custom sausage roll delivery mechanism. We tried to find that off-the-shelf but weirdly the options were limited.

Rich Ross

Founder

After 25 years working at some of the most awarded creative and tech agencies in the world, Rich grew tired of all the waste. Time thrown away by inefficiency. Great work squandered by miscommunications. And the money. Yikes! So much money going into the machine with no tangible output. What a waste.

Micro was born from his desire to cherry-pick the great people he worked with at the likes of Publicis, Imagination and elsewhere. To create a nexus for all these amazing people to gather and deliver work in a better way. Then, any spare capacity could be put to use helping the kinds of companies that don't have access or budget to afford such mad skills. The ones that are doing something meaningful that doesn't always get the spotlight they deserve.

Micro is now that nexus!
